National Productivity Secretariat often provides the guidance to enhance productivity in school sector with the aim of ensuring the sustainability of a quality education system.

National Productivity Awards competition 2018 will evaluate and honor schools with the best productivity performances. It is with great pleasure we invite you to join with this national endeavor which appraises achievements gained through practical application of productivity concepts.

 

Objectives of National Productivity Awards Competition:

*To motivate all schools to follow good practices to improve quality, productivity and services.

*To direct schools to build up a nation who can actively participate to achieve the national vision and development of the country.

*To train the students to utilize the scarce resources efficiently and effectively while adapting them to face the global challenges through sustainable development.

 

Classification of Schools:

The National Productivity Competition will be conducted under five categories.

Category 1                  Government Schools which conduct classes up to Advanced Level.

Category 2                  Government Schools which conduct classes up to Ordinary Level.

Category 3                  Government Schools which conduct classes up to Grade Five.

Category 4                  Private and International Schools.

Category 5                  Piriven

Important: Schools which have registered in the Ministry of Education and under No. 17 of Company Act 1982 are considered as international/ private schools, under category four.

 Create awareness of the benefits and concepts of enterprise level productivity

This comparison is utilized to motivate productivity improvement methodologies and techniques and to create proper understanding of productivity improvement methodologies and techniques.

 Identifying model organizations  with high productivity performance

By this system, it is expected to identify role models so that other organizations could imitate their systems and procedures.

Promote labor management co – operation

Enhancing productivity should be created through co-operative labor management relations within a harmonious workplace.

Global Challenges

Empower the manufacturing and service sector to face future global challenges by maximum use of resources and green productivity.

 

Classification of Organizations:

 There are two major categories;

1.Manufacturing Sector                  2.Service sector

 Above mentioned sections based on Number of employees can be classified in to 03 categories.

Large Scale

-

more than 250 full time employees

Medium Scale

-

between 50 and 250 full time employees (Including 50 and 250)

Small Scale

-

less than 50 full time employees

Public Sector

Public sector functions as the focal governing unit in Sri Lanka. Enhancement of the living standards of the people and economic growth of the country can be achieved by strengthening the public sector. National Productivity Secretariat is the only government organization which promotes and enhances productivity of this sector. 

National Productivity Awards competition 2018 will evaluate and honor organization with the best productivity performances. It is with great pleasure we invite you to join with this national endeavor which appraises achievements gained through practical application of productivity concepts.

 

Objectives of National Productivity Awards Competition:

* To motivate all public institutions to follow good practices for improving the quality, productivity and services.

*To direct public institutions for the national mission of improving the living standards of the Sri Lankans by actively contributing to the national development conforming to the National Vision and development programmes. 

*To identify exemplary public institutions and reward them at the national level.

*To create a people friendly institutional system by grading the public institutions.  

Classification of Organizations:

The National Productivity Competition relevant to the public sector consists of 6 categories.

Central Government Ministries and Provincial Chief Secretariat Offices

Provincial Ministries

In addition to the Provincial Ministries, Council Secretariats, Chief Minister’s Offices, Office of the Council Secretary, Governor’s Offices and Provincial Public Service Commissions are included

Departments

Government Departments, Departments under Provincial Councils, District Secretariat offices, and sub offices under a department which consists of 51 employees or more are included

Divisional Secretariat Offices

 

Local Authorities

 

Micro Category          

Only the organizations operating under Ministries, Provincial Ministries and Departments which consist of less than 50 employees and more than 05 employees can apply under this category. (A sub unit operating under an institution is not considered.)

 Important: As the State Corporations, Boards, Incorporated agencies are established with the intention of earning profits, those organizations should submit their applications under Manufacturing & Services sector.
